Music for flute, oboe and cello
Join us for an evening
of music while surrounded by inspiring art as we perform explore
this history of this instrumentation (flute, oboe and cello).
You will hear 4 examples of Baroque compositions for this combination
of instruments--two from Italy, one from Belgium and one from
Germany. These pieces demonstrate the characteristics of Baroque
music from the 3 centers of Baroque music, Italy, France (Belgium
was highly incfluenced by French Baroque style, and Loeillet composes
in the French Baroque style) and Germany. Then we will notice
how music for this instrumentation all but disappeared for hundreds
of years, but reappeared in the 20th century. We'll give you a
taste of some of our favorite pieces for this combination of instruments,
which includes the final Piece, Dream Dances by Schickele. This
piece is lively and fun . . . you won't want to miss it!
